Life Decluttering – The End

So, logically, this had to come to an end. And this part has definitely been harder.

A month has passed, so what has happened?

I continued with the kitchen. Threw away mugs, glasses, knives, plastic ware, pots , pans and mats. Expired food too. Not to forget, a huge stack of take-away menus.
Facebook was next in line. I tried to check if there was anything worth salvaging, but there really wasn’t. So I deactivated it.
Days later I continued with the bookshelf. This did not only contain books though. It had DVDs, PC games installers, board games, yarns, and a whole lot more. So I took everything out, decided to get rid of useless CDs and yarns. Some books had to go too.
Since we were already in the living room, we continued with the shelves containing various things. Office supplies, electronic devices, magazines, DIY things, manuals, even more CDs, hardware products and tools. We were able to sort a lot of things here that really were not necessary.
Last, but not the least, the cubby hole. Since I have already decluttered this even before deciding to declutter my life, there was really not much to do here. Just SHOES. We really don’t have a lot of pairs, but were still able to get rid of so much.

What did we do with things we sorted out?

I sold some that were of value, like clothes, shoes, this iron cast pot, and electronic devices.
Some were given to good will.
Electronic devices were brought to the recycling center.
And others were thrown away properly.

What was the hardest part?

I think figuring out if we really still need stuff. Part of me thinks we will need them, but part of me says probably never.
And Facebook. It has been a month and I sometimes catch myself opening the app just out of habit.

The best part of it?

The SPACE! And the fact that there is less clutter.
I also enjoy the littlest things, like sunrises, sunsets and nature. No need to take my phone out, take the best shot of it, share it with everyone (who have probably seen better, if not the same) and wait in vain for likes and comments.

What do I do now?

I promise to continue decluttering once a month, but in smaller versions.
