Should I stay? Or should I go?

Japan, the land of my dreams.

I have always been a huge fan of Japan. ALWAYS!

Why? How did it happen?

The first time I ever dreamt of going there was early on in my childhood. Whenever my cousin would fly home from Japan, she always had goodies. They always tasted a lot better than the local ones.
Then there’s Anime on Filipino TV, and this was where the fascination continued. I probably spent every afternoon in my childhood and teenage years watching Anime.
I got to explore japanese cuisine a bit later, specifically in college. Except for the spicy ones, I was a fan.
But that’s not all. I find the land itself enchanting. The landscape, the architecture, the sceneries. Nature and infrastructure combined. The culture and people not to be forgotten too.

After all I have written, you would probably say it is only LOGICAL that I visit the land of my dreams, right?

CORRECT!

On November 18, 2019 I decided to book a flight to Japan. The plan is to visit my sister, who has been living in Edogawa-ku since 2015 *envy overload* for 1 week. My mom was planning to fly from the Philippines too. So it was a family reunion. I was happy that my dream was finally coming true.

On December 31, 2019, news about the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Wuhan China was reported. Come mid January, everything was worsening as expected. But I was still determined to go. By the end of January, flights to China were being cancelled. And still no sight of any cure.

How does this affect me? I am flying with Air China. The layover is in Beijing.

FYI: I am flying alone.
My family has been very considerate. But no one, including myself, wants to be infected. And so the title…

Just got an email today that the flight was cancelled, but there are still other flights on the same day I could take.

I really want to go, so I am weighing the options. Do I go now and take the risk? Or wait until the situation has gotten a lot better?
