I have never been to any conference. Neither as a tester nor as a designer. But I have always wanted to.
As a mom, I have personally set a traveling contingent. I allowed myself to be away from family for a max of 10 days. 5 days ideally. Why? No idea. I was maybe afraid something might happen while I was away? FOMO? Yep, I guess those were the reasons.
Now, the company I work for has lots of very interesting social events that I join as much as I can. International development meetings, bootcamps, multidisciplinary meet ups, UX weeks, summerfest, and more. My contingent is normally used up when I join 1 or 2 of these events. So it was never too easy to just go out and join a huge conference. Plus, the conferences I find very interesting were far away. Berlin, Hamburg, London, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Tokyo.
So with Covid and all that comes with it, I am finally able to join conferences in the comfort of my home. Yay! With most events being available online, I do not have to miss out on things.
Although, to be honest, I miss being in a different city, country, continent. But there’s vacation for that. Soon, I hope.
I promise to write about the 2 day experience afterwards!
