I have probably cursed Alexa a lot more in the amount of time we had her in our household, compared to the curses I have released in my 36 years of existence.
Just a couple of nights ago, I wanted to listen to Apples by Lily Allen. “Alexa, spiele das Lied Apples von Lily Allen“, I said. The first time, she heard me say abos. The second, third, and fourth time, she heard me say applaus. Then I decided to say epples instead of apples, and she played the correct song.

This happens to me 80% of the time. It can get really annoying and frustrating. Plus, I have been the laughing stock of the family whenever I try to command her to play a song or songs from a band.
I live in a household that speaks mostly german, and at times english. Alexa’s language is set to german, obviously. But with my son learning english as well, this concerns me a lot. Finn has now adapted to talking some words in english with the german accent, and I do not like it. I correct his pronunciation every time, but if Alexa understands him when he asks for the song Iref duh tiger, why does he need to listen to me at all?
What I am trying to say is, “Alexa can you please support me in my endeavors of teaching my son how to speak proper english?” It is after all Apples and not Epples!
