2022 is ending in a couple of hours. Here’s a quick run down of what has happened.
Work
I spent the year working on a design system with initially just one team but turned into 2. In the beginning, I took on 3 different roles: the design lead, the interaction designer, and the visual designer. It was too much, so as soon as we got more designers in the team, I gave up being design lead. We were able to deliver components, even the beta of a data table. All in all, it was not that bad. Don’t get me wrong, there are still a couple of things we could do better, like unified deliverables. We’ll see what 2023 brings.
Hobbies
Drawing
I drew almost every day. Yep, almost. I learned that I can either push myself to do one artwork a day but be unhappy and be demotivated. Or I can just skip some days and see better results.
Books
As mentioned in my previous post, I read. A lot.
TV
Did not watch much. I finished Wednesday. And 2 korean dramas, I think. Did I see a movie? I think Enola Holmes 2.
Travel
We spent some summer days in Mallorca. But the highlight was my trip to Japan. I finally got to see a bit of the country I have been dreaming of. It was not for the right reasons, but still. This is probably the best I could share. Other than these 2 international destinations, we checked out some local spots. Like ruins and towers.
Family
There’s not much to mention here. I had corona twice. Because why not. My son had it once. Husband seems to be immune.
Son started school, which meant my working hours had to change a bit. I need to take a couple of hours off in the afternoons to pick him up and then do homework with him.
Our dream of owning a house is on pause now that son has started school. We would not want him to switch schools. I personally know how hard it can be.
We have a new car, an electric one.
For 2023
I wish to visit at least one new country and a new city in Germany. Maybe I can also go back home, even for just a week.
I will continue reading and drawing.
I hope I can have my own a small electric car.
I shall continue working on a design system. I just love the whole thing.
Anything else that comes, I shall be thankful for.
