Hello, DocuWare

Hey,

This seems weird. To have found a new one so quickly after saying goodbye to my long-term relationship just yesterday. But anywho.

Hello, you!

I am the new kid in town. But this is not my first rodeo, so don’t you worry. I’m bringing quite a bit with me. Nine years of experience, a ridiculous amount of curiosity, some strong opinions about design systems, accessibility, documentation and tokens, and probably far too much enthusiasm for components.

But I’m also trying to leave some things behind.

The certainty of knowing how everything works. The comfort of being the person who knows where to find everything. The assumption that I already know the answer.

I don’t.

Not here.

And I hope that is okay.

To be honest, I am a bit nervous. After nine years, I’m going to be a beginner again. There’s something wonderfully uncomfortable about starting over. Not knowing where everything is. Not knowing who everyone is. Having approximately 47 new things to learn before lunch and wondering whether “Is this how you normally do it” is a question I should ask or something I should somehow already know.

I’m looking forward to learning how things work here, meeting the people behind the work, understanding the product, poking around in all the places I’m probably not supposed to poke around in, and figuring out where I can make things a little better.

I do hope everyone wears a nameplate on the first day. Else I will place post-its on their foreheads.

So, hello, DocuWare.

I’m very happy to be here.

Now… where should I sit? And where’s the toilet?

Silke
